My Story
Someone once told me that I would be happy to grow older because I would have so much experience to share. I probably laughed and called them "boomer" and went on with the notion that I won't ever get that old. Look whose laughing now. But experience is a fickle thing and instead of dwelling on the fact that I'm older than dial-up internet, I choose to use my experiences to help others. In what, you might ask? Well, I have been happily married for 25 years, have a twenty-five year old son and a twenty-one year old daughter. I raised each according to their distinct personalities, and while raising these distinctly cool humans, I was able to go back to school to get my degree in Communications, continue teaching Elementary and Junior High Physical Education and eventually became a K-8th grade School Counselor, a job I have loved for the last six years. Oh, I was also an obnoxiously, die-hard sports mom to both of my kids. Between the two of them, they played seven different sports and traveled competitively in five of those sports. I have seen, heard and faced combat in every way imaginable when it comes to youth and High school sports. Then all of of sudden, it all stopped. My kids grew up and stopped playing sports to attend this place called college and start this adventure toward young adult life.
Now, sports is a place where I find solace in the reflection of the past and can laugh at the craziness of it all. I have self-exclaimed myself as a a "Reformed" sports mom and I am here for you. You might not think you need me, yet. But I'll be here and so will my stories. So thanks for stopping by and I hope I can offer you some sanity at this time. Because, my friend, these people be crazy!
